Review | Area H2O Hard Water Shampoo & Conditioner for Coloured Hair

My hair has absolutely hated every second of my time in London. Specifically the flat I moved into back in August with its horribly hard water. I have very thin, quite damaged hair (from years of perming when I was younger and now dyeing). As a result, any products that normal people can put in their hair totally weigh mine down and so the mineral deposits in the water here have left it sad and gross feeling. Previously, I tried the Joico K-Pac Chelating Shampoo which, I'll admit, DOES work. For about a day. The day I use it my hair feels nice and maybe I'll get another day but you are not meant to use it more than once every week or two, so ultimately it is sort of pointless.

Enter: Area H2O. I came across this after a lot of furious Google searches and it should be said that most of the reviews were not great. However, I'd tried so many popular options and had just come to the conclusion that my hair was just very different from most peoples' hair. It is a shampoo and conditioner specifically designed for both hard water damage and colour treated hair, so I ordered it with free shipping from lookfantastic and man, FINALLY.

It has a strange lather because it is working in opposition with the icky water, so if it does not later in your hard water, do not panic. Also, I definitely recommend the later, rinse and repeat because honestly, it does make a difference. It's not just a ploy to get you to buy more shampoo, it makes it work to its fullest potential. My hair has gone from being heavy, greasy feeling and blah to being soft, light and vibrant. I have dry-ish hair and this does not really change that, so there's a possibility that this may dry out hair a bit more? I barely notice, though. As long as it feels soft, I'm basically sold.

So yes. If you suffer from the same horrible hair as I have in the past six months, I'd recommend the investment! It was £17 for both. Have a great afternoon, my pretties x

  2. Does anyone have reviews about the Nuvo water conditioning system? My husband and I have been researching soft water systems and came across the NUVOH2O system. www.homewatersoftenerreviews.org/product/northstar-water-softener/
